Junya Watanabe

A protégé of Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe launched his own label as part of the Comme des Garçons umbrella in 1992. Besides his yen for using innovative technical fabrics and textiles, his particular brand of Americana and his refreshing style proposition every season, Watanabe, an alumni of Japan’s most influential fashion college (Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo), is well known for his collaboration with heritage brands such as Converse, Levi’s and Trickers.
