Self-portrait has unveiled its Lunar New Year campaign, directed by Malaysian Self-portrait Founder and Creative Director Han Chong which gathers a cast of women including fellow Malaysian model Ling Tan, and legendary actress Carina Lau.

Shot in Shanghai by longtime brand collaborator Leslie Zhang, the new campaign pays tribute to the holiday season with a series of scenes which celebrate family, friendship and new traditions.

Carina Lau and Ling Tan are joined by models He Zhi and Ji Shuyan for this special campaign, drawing on the annual tradition of shared rituals around the dinner table, and the coming together of loved ones to welcome in the new year.

Han Chong said:

“Being able to celebrate my culture through my work is something which fills me with great pride - I am always so excited to bring Lunar New Year to life through our collections and campaigns, and this year is a very personal one for me. Having Carina Lau and Ling Tan, acting and fashion icons I have long respected, is a dream come true, and to have them alongside a cast and crew of powerful women, for a campaign which honours the tradition of togetherness and family, feels incredibly special and symbolic to what we set out to achieve with our brand.”

Carina Lau said:

"Self-portrait is a fashion house I have admired personally for many years. I like their approach to dressing and how they make woman feel, so it was a real honour to cement my relationship with them by working with Han on his latest campaign. I am always so proud to pay tribute to my heritage, especially during this very special time of the year for us."

The campaign coincides with the release of the brand's Lunar New Year collection which infuses tradition with innovation and features styles for women and kids including designs inspired by the cheongsam. Dresses and separates in vibrant reds, greens and golds are available in lace, crepe and knitted fabrics, and the fashion house’s signature Bow Bag is reinvented in silver and gold.

The collection is available to purchase online at self-portrait.com, in stores around the world and across its global network of partner retailers.

Established in 2013 by Han Chong, the brand has become synonymous with empowering the modern woman through functional dressing for day and night. The brand is also strongly committed to supporting creative British talent through a number of initiatives including a scholarship program with Central Saint Martins.
