About the Collection

Presented on Thursday, June 20 at Mobilier national in Paris, the HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE Spring Summer2025 Collection, Up, Up, and Away, is inspired by all that there is about wind: the phenomena caused by wind, crafts and designs that react to wind, and forms that embody wind. The design and making is encapsulated in the use of sheer, light-weight textiles, voluminous silhouettes, and a sense of ease in wearing—all giving rise to garments that come to life as soon as the air is in motion—as this bright and wind-borne collection explores further the potential of the brand’s pleating technology.

......

WINDSWEPT PLAID is a distorted print series that captures the movement of wind. Created by holding the print in strong wind to allow it to flutter in the air, the result is a spontaneous plaid pattern.

WINDSWEPT SHIRT is a lightweight hand-pleated series made in simple silhouettes, with curved pleats creating windblown waves. The design features an extended necktie that can be tied or draped around, adding to the feeling of things swaying in the wind.

The design of KITE is an interpretation of the structure of a kite. Like a kite in the sky, the form of the garment becomes sculptural as it is worn on the body. The series’ voluminous silhouettes can be changed by the fastening and unfastening of buttons.

FRESHEN is made from a fabric that is a blend of recycled nylon and cotton in fresh colors. The washed finish gives the fabric a natural look and creates a softer silhouette. The jacket and pant styles feature large square pockets.

PARACHUTE is inspired by the design elements of the original apparatus. The straps on the front resembles the harnesses of an actual parachute. It is designed in a way that air flows in when worn on the body, to inflate the garments to create a gentle, rounded silhouette on the back. A concealed interior belt allows it to be rolled and fastened, making it easy to carry.

KITE COAT is inspired by the construction of a kite and the way it catches wind and arches in the air. The design features curved seams and double stitching, like the structure of a kite. Inspired by the way a kite is packed, the sheer, lightweight fabric can be folded into one of its outer pockets.

MONTHLY COLOR JANUARY is available in a variety of crisp colors. This new coat style features a soft, rounded silhouette. It can be worn in many ways, with additional arm openings, allowing the sleeves to wave in the wind.
